PCE.emu is an advanced open-source emulator for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 (PCE & TG16), based on Mednafen. It features a minimalist user interface and is designed to minimize audio and video latency, supporting a wide range of devices, from the original Xperia Play to modern platforms like Nvidia Shield and Pixel phones. The emulator supports various file formats, including .pce and .sgx, with optional ZIP, RAR, or 7Z compression. It also allows CD emulation via .cue files (requiring a Super CD-ROM System card) and supports audio tracks in FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, and Wav formats. Users can customize on-screen controls and connect Bluetooth/USB gamepads and keyboards, compatible with any HID device, like Xbox and PS4 controllers. Importantly, the app does not include ROMs; users must provide their own. The emulator supports Android’s storage access framework for easy file management across internal and external storage options, including SD cards and USB drives. To track updates and features, users can visit the official changelog or follow the project’s development on GitHub. Users are encouraged to report any crashes or device-specific issues via email or GitHub, including information about their device and OS version, to enhance future app performance across devices.
