On December 17, 2024, Treasury yields remained stable as investors assessed new jobless claims data. The 10-year Treasury yield was flat at 4.581%, while the 2-year yielded 4.329%. Jobless claims for the week ending December 21 totaled 219,000, slightly below the previous week and below the projected 225,000. However, continuing claims rose to 1.91 million, the highest since November 2021. The 10-year rate has increased over 40 basis points this month, largely due to the Federal Reserve reducing its rate-cut projections for 2025 from four cuts to just two.
