NYC Congestion Pricing Scheduled to Launch Sunday Following Ruling in Final Lawsuit

As New York City prepares to implement its congestion pricing plan on January 5, 2025, it has passed a significant legal hurdle despite pushback from New Jersey. A U.S. district judge ruled that the program could proceed, though the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) must still assess some aspects. The plan will charge $9 during peak hours and $2.25 during off-peak times, aiming to reduce congestion by 10%. New Jersey’s attorney claims the ruling delays implementation due to ongoing litigation. New York Governor Kathy Hochul insists that the plan will improve transit and reduce street traffic.
