The U.S. Treasury’s deadline for small businesses to report “beneficial ownership information” (BOI) has been delayed following a court order that suspends enforcement of the requirement. This regulation aims to combat financial crimes by necessitating disclosure of individuals who own or control companies. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the order on December 26, 2023, while it reviews arguments regarding the constitutionality of the Corporate Transparency Act. As a result, businesses are not currently obligated to file BOI reports until the injunction is lifted, with an en banc hearing scheduled for March 25, 2025.
