FAA Imposes Temporary Drone Ban Over Sections of New York and New Jersey

The FAA has announced temporary bans on drone flights over 30 areas in New York, following initial restrictions over 22 areas in New Jersey due to reports of strange flying objects. Requested by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, these Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) will last until January 19 and cover regions including New York City. New Jersey’s bans, effective until January 17, target parts of the state amid public concerns. The FBI and DHS stated there is no evidence of national security threats related to the sightings, which many believe might be misidentified manned aircraft. Meanwhile, drone stocks have surged following a partnership announcement in the industry.
