FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS is now available on Android, featuring a full 3-D remake of the beloved sequel that occurs nearly two decades after FINAL FANTASY IV. Players can expect to encounter classic characters alongside new heroes, including Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa. The game offers ten playable tales that begin with “Ceodore’s Tale,” with six additional character stories to unlock and complete in any order, ultimately leading back to the core narratives like “Kain’s Tale” and “The Lunarian’s Tale.”
The gameplay maintains the strategic depth of the series with an Active Time Battle system, allowing for dynamic combat. The introduction of lunar phases enhances combat, as the moon’s cycle influences the effectiveness of attacks and abilities. Players can also utilize Band abilities by combining the strengths of their party members, which can be unlocked through specific in-game events or by building character Affinity.
A minimap feature provides players with awareness of their surroundings and quick access to the world map. Google Play support brings additional challenges through various achievements. The plot follows Prince Ceodore as he joins the Red Wings airship fleet, facing new threats from monstrous hordes appearing with a new moon, as the hard-won peace of the Blue Planet hangs in jeopardy. Note that the game cannot launch on devices running Android 4.4 with ART enabled, so users must select the default runtime.
