In 2025, Jay-Z’s legal team introduced a defense strategy against a lawsuit alleging he raped a minor in 2000. Attorney Alex Spiro filed a pre-motion letter arguing that the complaint should be dismissed due to the age of the assault. The lawsuit, originally against Sean “Diddy” Combs, invokes the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act (GMV), enacted after the alleged incident. Spiro contends that the law cannot be applied retroactively and that the allegation doesn’t meet the geographic criteria for the GMV, as the incident occurred outside New York City. He also disputes the relevance of the Child Victims Act.

They didn’t shift strategy for anyone that’s been following it, they definitely said there are loopholes in the woman’s story, which there are a lot of them, including the woman’s dad saying she doesn’t recall the incident, so hov’s lawyer pointed all the loopholes out and also pointed out the case being too old, who wants to waste money on lawyers, anyone that’s been to court know how this works, from paying the lawyers retainers and then they keep running up the bill forever and ever, these blogs just love click and bait, they know people on the net can easily run up their numbers and put more money in their pockets

Won’t work the statute of limitations for CVA are extended if she/he was a minor at the time. They have until age 55 to file a civil lawsuit and it doesn’t specify the city as the jurisdiction it specifies the entire state.

I’m a huge Jay fan. And I’m always innocent until proven guilty. But this isn’t a good look. He did immediately deny the allegations the day the claims were made but going from denying to this doesn’t feel right. It’s still innocent until proven guilty but idk……
