Tesla’s China Sales Soar to New Record in 2024 Amid Global Decline

Tesla reported an 8.8% rise in sales, reaching a record 657,000 cars in 2024, despite overall global deliveries dropping 1.1%. While December sales in China increased by 12.8% to 83,000 units, Tesla struggled against competitive pressures, including reduced European subsidies and growing competition from rivals like BYD. Tesla delivered 1.79 million cars, slightly ahead of BYD, which saw a 12.1% increase in global sales, totaling 1.76 million. Amid ongoing price wars in China, Tesla extended discounts and financing offers for its Model Y and Model 3. BYD also faced challenges with export targets and local investigations in Brazil.
