Holiday shopping is evolving as e-commerce transforms the landscape of retail employment. This year, retailers are set to create 520,000 seasonal jobs, a decrease from last year’s 564,000, with an increasing emphasis on online order fulfillment. While e-commerce continues to fuel retail sales growth, it simultaneously contributes to a reduction in positions within brick-and-mortar stores. Amazon, the e-commerce powerhouse, is leading the charge in holiday hiring, followed closely by UPS. Retail sales are projected to exceed $1 trillion this holiday season, bolstered by robust online purchasing.
