Tokyo Consumer Price Index and China’s Industrial Profits

Asian markets were mixed as some reopened after the Boxing Day holiday, with China’s industrial profits declining by 7.3% in November. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose by 0.39%, while China’s CSI 300 fell 0.16%. Japan reported November inflation at 3%, leading to expectations of continued monetary tightening, with the Nikkei 225 gaining 1.8%. Conversely, South Korea’s Kospi slipped 1.02%. In the U.S., the Dow saw a slight gain after earlier losses, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq declined.
