Trump’s campaign promises include a 60% surcharge on imports from China and 25% on those from Mexico and Canada, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing. Economists warn this could result in higher consumer prices, as manufacturers may pass increased costs onto buyers, potentially fueling inflation.

Yarbo, a tech company showcasing a modular lawn-care robot, faces uncertainty due to Trump’s looming tariff agenda. Co-founder Kenneth Kohlmann mentioned they have contingency plans, but many small businesses lack the flexibility to mitigate tariff impacts. The CTA cautioned such tariffs could lead to significant price hikes for electronics, predicting increases of $357 for laptops and $213 for smartphones. The group also fears retaliatory tariffs from other nations, threatening innovation and economic stability. While some speculate Trump may not enact all proposed tariffs, the uncertainty leaves tech companies navigating potential changes in their supply chains and pricing strategies.
