Washington Post Cartoonist Resigns After Rejection of Trump Cartoon Featuring Bezos and Other Billionaires

Ann Telnaes, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, resigned from The Washington Post after her satirical cartoon depicting billionaires, including owner Jeff Bezos, kneeling before President-elect Donald Trump was rejected. Telnaes stated this was the first time her work was “killed” due to its subject. The cartoon was dismissed outright, with no suggestions for revision, prompting Telnaes to leave the paper. Editorial page editor David Shipley claimed the rejection was due to content similarity with existing columns, not targeting. Telnaes’ resignation reflects ongoing media tensions regarding Trump and follows several changes in leadership at the Post.
