The U.S. Justice Department filed a civil complaint against financial technology company Dave Inc and its CEO, Jason Wilk, for allegedly violating federal laws. The complaint accuses Dave of misleading consumers by advertising cash advances of up to $500 that many users do not receive, charging hidden fees, misrepresenting the use of customer tips, and imposing recurring monthly fees without clear cancellation options. The government is seeking consumer redress, monetary penalties, and a permanent injunction against future violations. Dave disputes many allegations and plans to defend itself. This complaint amends a previous FTC complaint from November.
