The FDA raised the risk level for eggs sold at Costco, associated with a salmonella exposure risk, to Class I, indicating a serious health threat. New York’s Handsome Brook Farms recalled about 10,800 units of organic, pasture-raised eggs, identified by UPC 9661910680 and a use-by date of January 5, 2025. These eggs were sold in 25 Costco locations across five states starting November 22. Although no illnesses have been reported yet, customers are advised to return the eggs for a full refund. Salmonella causes approximately 1.35 million infections annually in the U.S., often from contaminated food.
