Ford CEO Jim Farley announced the company’s partnership with China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology to build an electric vehicle battery plant in Marshall, Michigan, on February 13, 2023. In addition, Ford is donating $1 million and vehicles to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. The new administration’s proposed tariffs and changes to electric vehicle tax credits could significantly impact Detroit automakers like Ford, which is navigating the shift to battery-powered models. Farley expressed hope that the administration would consider Ford’s views due to the company’s importance in the U.S. economy. Other major companies, such as Amazon and Meta, also contributed to the inauguration.
