Prof. Bambang Hero Saharjo, a prominent environmental expert from the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), has been reported to the Bangka Belitung police by Andi Kusuma, the chairman of the local organization Putra Putri Tempatan (Perpat). The report accuses Bambang of negligence as an expert witness related to a corruption case involving the mining license (IUP) of PT Timah for the years 2015-2022, which he calculated resulted in national losses amounting to Rp 271 trillion. Andi claims that Bambang was uncooperative when questioned, suggesting that his testimony was misleading and could be classified under Article 242 of the Indonesian Penal Code for providing false information. According to Andi, this erroneous assessment has adversely affected the local community, leading to economic distress in Bangka Belitung. He asserts that the negative impacts of Bambang’s statement have been felt by many, including notable figures such as Professor Mahfud MD and President Prabowo Subianto. Andi emphasizes that the situation has created significant hardship for the people of the region and has worsened the local economy.
