The study analyzed health data from over 5,000 early-onset colorectal cancer patients, revealing that the presence of one symptom doubles the risk, while three or more elevate it by over 6.5 times.
The importance of early recognition is emphasized, particularly as younger adults often overlook these signs due to the belief that they are at low risk. Greater awareness is necessary among healthcare providers to minimize diagnostic delays, which frequently lead to advanced-stage cancer diagnoses. Statistics indicate that individuals born in 1990 face double the risk of colon cancer and fourfold for rectal cancer compared to those born in 1950.
