South Korean Court Issues Warrant for Impeached President Yoon

South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol faces a court-issued arrest warrant for failing to attend questioning related to insurrection charges, as reported by domestic media. The Seoul Western District Court’s warrant allows for his detention within 48 hours. Yoon is accused of declaring emergency martial law on December 3, which he rescinded after six hours. Following his impeachment on December 14, Yoon remains president, pending a Constitutional Court ruling within 180 days. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has temporarily assumed presidential duties but was also impeached, leading to Deputy Prime Minister Chio Sang-mok becoming acting president.
